Virtual International Understanding Day 2022

11th September 2022

After months of preparation and weekends rehearsing over and over again, I am glad to say that our Virtual International Understanding Day 2022 of Interact Club of San Min Secondary School was a huge success.

So, what is the International Understanding Day (IU Day)?

I believe that it is an event to promote a better understanding of cultures from foreign countries, making us more united as a member of the world. This year, we have selected the theme "Ciao Italia" and we featured lots of stuff related to Italy (food, people, etc....)

If you're interested in knowing more about the information in our slideshow, kindly read my previous blog "Ciao Italia" Part 1&2.😊😊😊

Hari Anugerah 2022

 11th August 2022

Today is a special day as it is my first time attending our school's annual academic award ceremony. As you might have guessed, I am an extremely studious person and a nerd without glasses. I got second place in the final examination last year so I was able to skip school for the day and have fun in the school hall receiving awards.

Firstly, we went to register our names and they gave us little stickers with numbers on them. Then we sat down and started reading our History textbooks since exams were around the corner (we never fail to prove that we love studying). To be honest, there was light background music, mic testing, and lots of people chatting and moving about so I wasn't able to focus or memorize anything.

After what seemed like forever, the ceremony finally started when the VIPs' arrived. The ceremony started with long boring but meaningful speeches from our headmaster and so on.

The ceremony then took a break with a Chinese orchestral performance. The music was elegant and graceful.

Then, it was my turn to receive the awards. I am extremely lucky to be able to take a photo with my dad on stage.

My proud dad

The ceremony went on with singing and dancing performances and awards for all the students who have worked hard to achieve great results in their SPM and STPM. I was blown away by the achievements listed when announcing our model student. She had won multiple competitions and even had a Grade 8 in piano. I told myself that I am going to try my best and get the model student award someday.

There was also a photo booth so we took a pic there....
Angels (I was slanting lol)

We also got interviewed briefly without notice... I was pretty nervous, my voice was slightly trembling.

The award ceremony was a memorable experience. I would like to thank all the teachers and students involved in the whole preparation of the ceremony, the decorations were gorgeous. I wish to maintain my good grades so that I am able to attend this ceremony in the future,

Swimming Gala 2022

Sun, 25 September 2022
This year, the swimming gala was full of excitement and joy after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. I'm happy and grateful that we are recovering from the pandemic very well and everything is starting to go back to normal. Here are a few pictures on that day because I don't feel the need to list out all sections of the competition:
Got third place even after not swimming
 for a long long time

Silver medalist

Another winner in the family

Overall, I was very nervous because there were lots of people that I know participating in the Swimming Gala. I had not swum for a very long time.  What if I mess up? I'm glad everything turned out fine and all of us are winners in the end.

Haidilao review from a foodie

31st July 2022

Ever wondered if a restaurant is good or bad? If yes, you're in the right place coz a foodie is detected writing this blog.

So, my family and I went to the Haidilao restaurant in Aeon Station 18, Ipoh and it was really crowded. But not to worry as there are large green couches outside with hot teas and snacks for you to enjoy. I thought it was pretty much a scam to let you wait longer and charge you more but we went in after waiting a few minutes (maybe we're lucky) so it wasn't too bad after all.

As we step into the restaurant, the first thing I felt was the freezing cold air-conditioning. We got seated and started ordering. While waiting for all the ingredients we order to arrive, hot towels, zip lock bags, and aprons were provided. I believed we have waited pretty long for the food to arrive and it was so cold that we were freezing. But fortunately, we have our very own waiter who gave us shawls to keep warm.

The food came and we enjoyed it, I think it was pretty good. There was a performer that will swing your noodles around which was very entertaining and a fun experience to watch.

Suddenly, an unexpected event happened. After knowing that it was my birthday tomorrow, they gathered all the waiters and started singing. It was so unexpected that I was smiling the whole entire time. I didn't even have enough time to take a full video. We were also given a mini cake for free.

Overall, I would say that almost RM300 for a 5 pax meal is reasonable as there was a waiter that never really leaves our table, all the effort to perform and complimentary snacks. I would say that the food was obviously not their main selling point, but the experience is but it is definitely worth trying.

Spending money on food

4th July 2022

So today I was clearing up the old files and pics and I came across a script that I've written for a 2 to 3-minute presentation. The topic was spending money on food. I got a bit of inspiration and advice from mum, and today I'm gonna share with you the script.

Spending money on food is a very satisfying thing. In Malaysia, we are all spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing foods. Malaysia is practically a food haven. In this multiracial country, we not only have Malay Indian Chinese food, but we also have Nyonya food, Thai Japanese Western, and Korean food, not forgetting special delicacies on festivals. Best of all, we need not go to fancy restaurants to get good food. We can go to Mamak stalls, hawker centers, and night markets to get affordable food. The special thing about getting your money's worth on food is to try different types of food. When we eat a type of food once in a blue moon, the food will become more special to us compared to eating it every day. But if u are tight on money, then you should always choose healthy food as we eat to live, not live to eat.

Since I decided to write a post about food, why not make a compilation of me and food?

Trust me..... making this post brought back many memories, I love the last few pictures the most. And if you've seen this post till the end and still don't know I'm a foodie, then start reading this post again until you get it lol... I guess this is why my family (especially me) never loses any weight, we live to eat, rather than eat to live.
